How time flies, another year is over. Lately, the days are fine and suitable for play outside. The lovely Autumn sunshine gives us lots of warmth.
My little patient came back last week, and I'm very happy to see him again. His name is Luis, and he comes from Argentina. He suffers from Batten's Disease. Now he is taller and chubbier than before. I still remember the first time I saw him, very thin and small, the joints were stiff because they hadn't been used for a long time. After a period of treatment, his joints were more flexible, and he had gained weight. Watching him improve his father was very delighted, as were we. I hope he will get a better change after this period of treatment.
We have some young patients lately. Although they are tortured by the disease almost every day, they don't stop seeking happiness, and never complain. I remember I saw a photo of several disabled children laughing and playing. I think they always keep an optimistic state of mind whatever they face. Maybe we also were like this when we were young, but it seems we have forgotten how to be really happy after maturity. It is said the best teachers are children; I agree! I hope we don't forget the happiness of our youth!
