Nurse Yin Dongkai 2010-11-16
Time passes by, and we are near the end of 2010. Last year at the same time, I was a new employee with many hopes and dreams. I left school and became part of society. Then I came into this hospital.
All the things here were curious and exciting for me. Most of the patients here come from different countries all over the world. My major is English-nursing; I am glad I have a chance to use my education. Although these patients have so many differences, like skin-color, language, and dress, they have one common ground. They are all very friendly, with smiles on their faces.
During the year in our hospital, I have improved my English ability and cultural understanding very much. I have learned about America's regard for law and liberty, and Saudi Arabia's strict Muslim culture. I have met people from over ten different countries. I have also learned optimism and courage when facing serious illness. I have realized the importance of family and friends when dealing with such things.
Of course, during this year, I also hade some mistakes because of language and culture differences. But all of this makes my life more fulfilling and interesting. I believe that I will learn more and more in our hospital, and have a chance to better myself. I look forward to that.
