At our hospital, a lot of foreign patients come here for our stem cell treatment to help with a variety of diseases and disorders. We like to think of our wards as similar to the United Nations. There are many different languages spoken and different cultures, making this a very interesting place to work.
We often use the services of translators for people who don't speak either Chinese or English. As a result, there is a lot of good teamwork that goes on here. There are often good opportunities to learn from the variety of people who come here and engage in cultural exchanges. Our patients spend nearly two months with us and it is always interesting to learn new perspectives and we often will teach them some of our culture and traditions.
Some patients, when they first arrive, understandably feel some unease at being in a foreign country, but it doesn't take long until they feel more at ease. I think it is interesting to work in our hospital. They will go back to their countries after 2 months. Since we know we will miss them, we often take pictures of them before they leave. Every patient is a beautiful memory for us. We all have best wishes for them and hope that they will continue to improve their health. We will always miss them when they leave. In a word, one world, one dream.
