We were busy sorting out e-mails in our work mailbox recently. Although the doctors' mailbox opened just over a year ago, the volume of e-mails we have gotten so far is around 1,000. Most of these e-mails came from the discharged patients who gave us feedback about their current conditions and the situations with their medications. We receive different e-mails from patients almost every day. We analyze the current situations of the patients and then we go onto make recommendations for further treatment, if necessary.
As a hospital that specializes in treating neurological disorders, our center receives mostly patients with chronic diseases who require long-term treatment. During the process of reading these e-mail messages, I have realized to what degree the patients and their families trust and rely on our medical team. We often receive responses similar to this: "I really do not know what I would have done without your help, we really are fortunate to have encountered a medical center like yours." . . . Seeing these e-mails brings us much happiness and contentment. Even when our work is very busy, we enjoy reading the feedback we get from the patients and it is very fulfilling for us to know we are helping them live more comfortable lives.
We look forward to further correspondence with our patients as this is a good way to build on the existing trust that our patients have with us.
