By Nurse Cora Yang
Tonight I am on duty and at about 2:00 am I came to the ward. I went to every patient's room to check on them and they were all sleeping well. Then I came back to the nurse's station to start my work. Suddenly, the bell rang; it was Santiago who rang the bell. I went to his room quickly. I discovered that he had a seizure. "Please let him lie on the bed." I said to his mother. Then I gave him oxygen immediately. "Doctor Wang, please come to Santiago's room quickly, he has had a seizure." I called the doctor. In about 1 minute, the doctor came to his room. "Give him diazepam 2.5mg from his vein," the doctor said. Then I gave him the medication, slowly for 4 minutes. About 2 minutes later, his symptoms got better. "Now, he is ok, please let him have a good rest. If there are any more problems, please press the bell. I will come here immediately." I said to his mother. I really know the meaning of the sentence "why I am here." I'm honored and proud to be a nurse.
