Antidepressants appear to give your mood an immediate lift, despite the belief they can take years to work.
A new study out of Oxford University says although it may take months for patients to notice the effects, the drugs start working subconsciously almost immediately.
The researchers say in just hours after taking the first dose your negative thoughts already start to change.
They say these subtle, positive cues add up over time, lifting you out of depression.
The study, which involved over 60 people and appears in the American Journal Of Psychiatry.
