Batten disease, known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, is still incurable. In America, there are about 2 to 4 among 100,000 children that suffer from the disease.

Hailey is 6 year old girl, diagnosed with Batten disease when she was 5 in a local hospital. Since then, she gradually lost her abilities to speak, hear and walk. She also had convulsive epilepsy seizures every day and breathing difficulty. In July 2008, her mother Miranda brought her to Beijing to see Dr. Wu for stem cell treatment. After 7 weeks of the treatment, Miranda was happy to see some improvement in Hailey. The number of her seizures and involuntary movement on her face reduced significantly, breathing difficulty alleviated. In mid- February, Miranda brought her back to Dr. Wu for the second round of stem cell treatment with the hope to further improve Hailey's condition. We keep our fingers crossed that she will be a happy and healthy girl again under our treatment and care.
Miranda is very grateful for everything the doctors have done for her daughter and says that she will never give up.
