How Wu stems cells medical center won our trust

The writings of a wife describing her husband's treatment and recovery experience.

My husband and I went to Wu Stem Cells Medical Center again in October, 2009. Weiqiang Liang returned to visit doctor Wu and doctor Wang. Their medical team is the greatest; they made my husband able to stand again.

I do not like to remember the dark days: May 10, 2006, that is 3 years ago, an unexpected call disrupted my life and ruined my family. My husband went to answer a phone call and fell downstairs. His brain was damaged and was diagnosed with multiple hemorrhaging in the brain (two frontal, right temporal lobe, left brain stem and subarachnoid hemorrhage). We quickly took him to the hospital. Ten days later, he received two decompressive craniectomies. After the operations, he couldn't take care of himself. He was presented with dysphonia, swallowing difficulty, ataxia and nystagmus. He couldn't walk, and could not sit upright. The non-voluntary activity was very obvious. Even when he was lying down, he was fidgety every minute and this was accompanied by disturbances of consciousness, convulsing limbs, mania and violent episodes. When he became violent, people were not able to be near him. He would throw any objects he could get his hands on including infusion tubes, oxygen tubes, syringes, and so on. He would sometimes even pull the plug out of the wall that controlled the medical instruments. My son and I were regularly injured by him. Sometimes the old wounds would not have healed yet, before new wounds would be inflicted upon us. We were constantly in a high state of alert and could never really relax. We were miserable beyond description and the experience was unimaginable. Both of our bodies and spirits were damaged. So both my son and I consider this a very gloomy time.

My husband received surgery to repair the damage to his brain at Tiantan Hospital in October 2006. Thirteen days later, he was discharged from that hospital. We went to Beiyisanyuan Hospital for rehabilitation training. But he was unable to cope with the rehabilitation training. Not only did his condition not improve, it had gotten worse than before. His weight decreased from 99 Kg to 65 Kg. No one was able to communicate with him. I had expected the surgery to have repaired at least some of the damage to his brain but when I saw the condition of my husband after the surgery, I was extremely disappointed. At that time, I couldn't find a way to truly help my husband and lost all hope with life. I knew that he would be in a vegetative state.

I came to realize that the surgery could only save his life but would not cure the disease. His brain had been severely damaged and surgery could not help. So we came to talk to Dr. Wu and see how he might be able to help. I remember asking Dr. Wu: "Please tell me the truth, what about my husband's future?" Dr. Wu said only one sentence: "You will see a significant improvement within 20 days." This sentence made me hope for a miracle. I felt like a person lost in the abyss who finally sees daylight, bringing new hope. I let go of the exceptionally heavy emotional load I had been carrying around for so long and felt very relaxed. It brings tears to my eyes whenever I remember this exact moment.

My husband received the neural stem cells autologous activation and mobilization treatment. What is autologous stem cells activation and mobilization? Dr. Wu explained that a part of a human's brain cell plays a specific role, another part is idle. Now my husband's brain cells which had specific functioning and has now been injured had basically formed a "hole." He went on to explain that his medical team will activate autologous stem cells to mobilize the idle brain cells in order to repair the flaws in the damaged area, allowing gradual recovery. During the treatment period, there will also be rehabilitation training. He also told me that after the comprehensive treatment is finished, my husband will be able to return to society and be a contributing member of it, and his quality of life will be greatly improved.

Doctor Wu is a learned person and has a high level of medical skills. He administers the stem cell treatment while being extremely careful to avoid damage to the various organs. Patients receive rehabilitation treatment that is specially designed for each individual's needs, in order to maximize the treatment results. Before the treatment, my husband could only eat baby food but now he can eat normal food. He can now sit up from a lying position and then walk, and even go up and down stairs. His dysphoria, violent behavior and convulsions have disappeared. His thoughts and memory have been restored to normal. He can now take care of himself.

We make sure to keep in touch with Dr. Wu. Everyone who sees my husband says it is a miracle when they see how much he's improved. My husband was in a vegetative state but is no longer in one; it is very difficult to achieve these kinds of results. Yes, as his wife, I can be difficult, but I try my best to help him and take care of him all the time. We are so grateful to Dr. Wu and his medical team. They really do the best they can to improve the lives of their patients, which I was lucky enough to witness directly with my husband. His quality of life has improved so much. We are also grateful to therapist Rong, who was the first person to give my husband rehabilitation training. With all the great effort of so many people, my husband's condition has improved so much more than I would have dreamed possible. The functioning which he had lost is being restored gradually.

We feel that the medical team at Wu Stem Cells Medical Center really have their patients' best interests at heart, are very diligent in their duties, and nothing they do is easy, yet they are highly skilled at their work. I will always be so thankful to the staff for what they did for my husband. The doctors, nurses and physical rehabilitation staff all did difficult work to give my husband, as well as his family, hope again. We all trust and depend on them. The staff told us: "The patient's rehabilitation is the best return for us. We are content and proud of this." It is said that a glass of water can affect a passerby, a drop of water can affect the grass, soft clouds can affect the sky, and love can affect the world.

Dr. Wu and his medical team have successfully treated over 800 patients from all over the world suffering from various neurological diseases. The patients come from 23 countries. Dr. Wu and his staff have the ability to bring renewed hope to the patients and their families.

The success of Wu Stem Cells Medical Center is apparent through their various awards and achievements, but more importantly, the staff here has earned the trust and respect of the people who they treat.
