NAME: Saeeda Dar
SEX: Female
COUNTRY: United Kingdom
AGE: 67
DIAGNOSIS: Parkinson's Disease
Before Treatment:
Saeeda was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease 5 years ago. She had static tremors in the left middle finger 8 years ago, accompanied by rigidity and pain in her neck and thoracic vertebra. The symptoms were alleviated after acupuncture and massage treatment, but she still had tremors which progressed gradually. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at a local hospital. About 5 years ago, she developed tremors in her right side, and felt rigidity in her neck, shoulder and all 4 limbs. She took Sinemet and Entacapone to control the Parkinson's symptoms, but she needed to take these medications continuously. She had to add Amantadine to control the tremors. She took anti-PD medications 9 times per day; the medicine only took effect for about 3 hours. She had trouble sleeping and often felt fatigued. She could only walk a short distance with the assistance of a cane, and then she needed to sit down and take a rest. If she sat down for too long, she would feel rigidity in her legs. She could not go out for a walk or go shopping because she suffered from severe pain in her neck, back and waist. She could not stand for more than 10 minutes without holding onto something to keep her balance. When she was able to walk, she would drag her leg. She had difficulty turning round. She needed help to get in and out of bed. When she was out in public she would get panic attacks. Her handwriting got smaller and was illegible. She could not make precise movements with her fingers such as fastening buttons or opening bottles. Her voice was low and she spoke slowly.
Treatment: Saeeda received 4 neural stem cell injections (2008-04-03; 04-15 mild headache; 04-29; 05-12).
After Treatment:
After the stem cell treatment, Saeeda has much more control over her balance, the rigidity and freeze ups have been alleviated. Her tremors have stopped. She walks stronger now and does not require the use of a cane. Her voice is louder and clearer. She is able to some daily activities such as bathing herself without assistance. She can stand up and turn over in bed easier than before and she gets more sleep. The dosage of her anti-Parkinson's medications has decreased after the treatment.
